As a chronic people-pleaser, this is my advice for success.

Offer as little as possible. Be terse. Get rid of all those exclamation marks and tidbits about why you want to take a sick day. State your needs clearly and concisely without reason. Start saying “No, I’m unable.” more often. Say Thank You only when the other party deserves it.

detectivehole

"i let my friends/partner go through my phone" people baffle me like i don't even have anything worth hiding on mine and id still turn it into shrapnel before i let anyone browse through it. id prefer it be a fine metallic mist than let anyone see the recipe tabs i have open. it's my right and my right alone to know what strange games i downloaded from janky yet intriguing ads

genderpunks

i have gotten a lot of asks recently about why i choose to identify as a gay man & a lesbian at the same time, instead of bisexual. i do identify as bisexual, very openly. i am a genderqueer/bigender person who is a man and woman, a gay and a lesbian, sapphic & achillean. that's 2 modalities of attraction, which would fall under the "bisexual" label.

for many bisexuals, their attraction can and does mean "gay and straight", and that's fine. while older descriptions of bisexuality very vividly describe how bisexuals blend into both "gay and straight" society. the problem is i think people really miss the nuance of that sentence. it means it's how we're perceived by cisheteronormative society, not how we identify under the hood

when you are bisexual you are not forced into ONLY "gay and straight" attraction, especially if you are multigender or genderqueer or nonbinary. you can't look at bisexuality from a heterosexual, black-and-white angle of "you HAVE to be (only one type of) gay and straight, nothing else," bisexual attraction can include a myriad of types of attractions, you are not obligated to be "gay and straight".

bisexuality can be simple, or it can be complicated, but it's never black and white. it's not a one size fits all experience. it can be a broad spectrum of identities an attractions. bisexuals can be a gay & a lesbian, a straight man & a lesbian woman, a straight woman & a gay man, a nonbinary enbian & a gay man, a lesboy & an achillean demigirl, or whatever other combination of identities you can think of. there's no rules
